First things first, I wanted to start by saying congratulations to my Cousin N and Brother-in-law. They got married towards the end of April, and boy was it fantastic! Mom and I left a week early to help with the festivities, and boy, oh boy was it a busy week. Not sure there was a moment of peace for anyone involved, as we were running/driving/walking in all 4 directions.
Many of Cousin N's friends from high school, college, and graduate school had flown in for her wedding. All of her friends were so helpful, and friendly, it felt like everyone had known then for years. We had many of them running errands such getting flowers, getting last minute chalk-boards for the cupcake table, getting hairspray, bobby pins and so many other random items. Not sure we could have gotten through the last few days without them. My family in particular became very close with Cousin N's college roommate, who had flown in early for the wedding week. She knew there would be a lot to do and she was ready to help! We enjoyed getting to know her, and putting to her to work. Man, she did lots of work. We did feel bad for her, but her friendship with Cousin N was beyond words, and although she was exhausted, she stated she would have done it all over again if need-be (for Cousin N).
For those of you who are unaware, Indian weddings can be a little long because there are many days of small ceremonies leading up to the wedding and reception. I will try and cover them, through-out this week. The first one is just a simple ceremony that the grooms side performs. It signifies the beginning of the wedding festivities. Each family is different, and have their own traditions, and this is a big one on my brother-in-law's side. Here are a few pictures:
